A Chinese Qing Dynasty period lamp hanger chair from the late 19th century, with serpentine arms, wooden seat and natural patina. Created in China during the later part of the Qing dynasty period in the late 19th century, this scholar’s lamp-hanger armchair features an elegant tall back, topped with a curving rail. The central section presents a curving backsplat, whose sinuous lines contrast beautifully with the side supports. The seat presents a central recessed panel, while the chair is raised on four straight legs connected to one another through a delicately carved apron in the front. The perfect contrast of shapes of the upper section, opposing the concave silhouette of the splat and the convex lines of the lateral supports, combined with the subtle yet elegant decor, will make this Qing Dynasty wooden Chinese scholar’s lamp-hanger armchair from the late 19th century a perfect decorative accent for any home, perhaps placed in an office, bedroom or living room.
