3 part Doctor’s desk or Scholar desk in Jumu wood from the city of Suzhou in China, approx. 1900.
Center tabletop made in one piece of wood, which has shrunk over time and therefore is filled with a hard black wax along the sides.
Jumu wood is also called “Southern Elm” and is very similar to walnut tree in its structure with a beautiful grain and warm patina to the wood.
Features six drawers and handsomely latticed bottom portion.
The desk dismantles into three parts for easy transportation.
