An elegant and rare Queen Anne period marquetry inlaid walnut cabinet-on-chest in two parts, the upper section with cabinet doors opening to reveal three adjustable shelves, the base, consisting of four graduated marquetry inlaid drawers supported by bracket feet. This piece is a great example of the cabinet maker’s skill with fine and elaborate foliate seaweed marquetry inlay. Top section is lighter in overall color than the base. Circa 1710.

Condition:GoodRepaired: Old minor repairs to moldings and veneer. Probably refinished in part many years ago. Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. The piece has various minor repairs typical of furniture this old. The sides have minor areas of discoloration. As noted, the top is lighter in color than the bottom. Dimensions given are taken at the widest parts of the piece (i.e. the cornice).
