Childrens, or Childs Chairs as the name suggests were made throughout the 18th and 19th centuries and beyond, often as scale models of their full size counterparts for the children of the family to use in all manner of settings and circumstances.
They therefore come of course in all manner of scales, shapes and sizes dependent mainly on the age of the children in the family which they were initially commissioned for, combined with the style of the existing furniture within that home.
This particular childs would have been constructed in the early 20th century and stylistically it takes its lead from what would be an extremely rare early 17th century Queen Anne period example.
