A large five-seat quintuple 18th century Spanish Carlos III chair back sofa, with hand-carved walnut wood furniture and silk fabric upholstery.
This is an unusual piece due to its relatively large size, five seats wide measuring over two meters (7 feet 4 inches).
With simple hand-carved detailing on both arms and curved cabriole legs, the chair backs have typical 18th century ”Queen Anne” urn-shaped backsplats. The red silk upholstery has vegetal and stylized pomegranate designs which contrast with the more somber wood elements of the sofa. Together the wood and silk create a strong presence, with a touches of luxury and history.
