19th Century English Tilt-Top Walnut End Table is one of the earlier examples of the type, rendered from walnut obtained from the Continent. A pair of rails were affixed to the bottom, with a doweled attachment to the pedestal below allowing the top to tilt up 90 degrees. Such a feature allowed the owner to place the table against the wall to free up floor space when entertaining, especially when dancing and music were involved! Finely turned pedestal transitions to three artfully scrolled legs in the Queen Anne style, creating a tripod base that is stable even on slightly uneven floors. Perfect for a refined yet tailored elegance!
