18th Century Italian Baroque Louis XV Giltwood Corner Console Tables – A Pair

A stunning pair of large antique Italian Baroque carved faux marble painted parcel gilt corner console tables. circa 1740

Hand-crafted in Italy in the 18th century, styled in luxurious period Louis XV (1715-1774) taste, featuring a triangular marbleized wood top with serpentine shaped molded edge, white paint decorated frame, pierced rocaille scalloped apron, rising on scroll stretcher-joined cabriole legs, ending on shaped feet. One having a hexafoil symbol to the inside of the frame, used in the middle ages and Renaissance as a symbol of religious protection.

Good antique condition with beautifully aged heavily worn distressed chippy paint patina. Lots of antique character marks and rustic old world European charm throughout. Wear consistent with nearly 300 years of age and use, scattered chips, nicks, scratches, losses and old touchups. One with separation to top, past restoration to legs and frame.
