The bookcase with duel arched molded hood is surmounted by three turned urn-form finials above a straight case fitted with a pair of beveled mirror hinged doors with serpentine tops above two candle-slides with bronze button pulls; it rests on a conforming secretary with a slant-fronted hinged fall concealing a hinged door flanked by three pigeon holes over three drawers on each side; case is fitted with two half-drawers flanked by pullout rests for the fall; two full drawers each mounted with reticulated bronze bat-wing bail pulls; rests on a straight base raised on four high angular bracket feet; the whole finely decorated with embossed chinoiserie landscapes with figures, flowers, birds, pavillions and trees executed in gold, brown, black and green on red-lacquered background; antique Japanned wood circa 1710.
