A 19th century Elm Wood Hide Woven Seat Stool. The top of this stool is woven with incredible detail creating a pattern of stars. The hide is cut into thick strands, incredibly strong and solid. Woven to the recessed inset center of the frame. The stools top has a hand worked raised edge this detail is repeated to the bottom of the top frame creating a slight waist. Also having full apron and double strut on the side legs. The wood has a warm darkened patina of time use and wear. Traditional exposed joinery adds provincial charm and character. This is an excellent example of Northen China Provincial style furniture handed down through several Dynasties, this stool being of the Qing Dynasty Period ca1850. Suitable for everyday use to last another century. In very good condition.
