A Chinese Qing Dynasty period yoke back armchair from the 19th century with original finish and carved splat. Created in China during the Qing Dynasty, this armchair features a rectangular wooden seat with recessed panel, supporting two delicate serpentine arms. With a style dating back to the 11th century, the back and the armrests adopt a yoke-back shape for which they are sometimes referred to as Official’s Hat chairs. Adorned with carved medallions on the back splat, the chair is raised on straight legs with carved apron in the front and side stretchers. Boasting a nice patina, this 19th century Qing Dynasty yoke back armchair will make for a great accent piece in any bedroom, living room or foyer.
