This exquisitely crafted elmwood table was made over 150 years ago in the Shanxi region of China. The simple and sophisticated construction is dramatically highlighted by the way the spandrels come together with the spirited apron motif to create a silhouette that is very modern. A table of this proportion would have originally been used in a traditional Chinese home as an incense stand, for serving wine or for displaying potted landscapes or other collectibles.
