A work of art in itself, this finely woven Qing dynasty trunk likely once stored prized painted scrolls. Framed in elmwood, the trunk’s panels are lined with thin reeds that were painstakingly woven by a skilled artisan. The trunk’s top opens to reveal a rich red lacquer interior that contrasts beautifully with the rich, black-lacquered exterior. Iron hardware and a gem- and gold-accented carved base panel add eye-catching detail.
