Apart from being rare, stylish and beautiful this late 1800s and all handcrafted revolving bookcase is extra practical, because of its relatively small size AND because of the extra tier (just below the top). It is for placing newspapers and/or magazines. This incredibly handsome specimen must have been made for a smaller, private library or study, because most revolving bookcases in the late Victorian era were considerably larger. Apart from 4 or 5 replaced spindles this antique work of beauty could not be more original and beautiful. We know this finer quality and superb design specimen with its striking patina was handcrafted by James Shoolbred. We know this, because we recognize the ‘Registered mark’ at the bottom of this ‘bookkeeper’. Finally, this bookcase stands firmly on its elegant Queen Anne feet and it revolves as smooth as the day it was handcrafted almost 150 years ago. Filled with books and with perhaps a beautiful sculpture or table lamp on top, this stylish antique can instantly transform part of your living room, library or home office in a place of class and great style.
Mind you, our fair price for this beautiful, practical and great condition antique even includes perfect packing and also worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days.
