A fine and rare Maison Jansen ormolu-mounted and brass inlaid marble top commode in the Regence style, circa 1940s.
The shaped marble top with a subtle double-moulded edge, sitting on a lustrous black lacquered base with finely cast gilt bronze mounts and reassuringly heavy gauge handles within panels of brass inlay. An almost identical commode (although not fully ebonised) is illustrated in James Archer Abbott’s book ‘Jansen Furniture’.
An incredibly stylish and rare Maison Jansen commode.
Minor age related bumps, scuffs and scratches.
