This pair of elmwood roundback armchairs was made over a hundred and fifty years ago in China’s Shanxi province. Touched by the personal aesthetic sense of the artisan who crafted them, the chairs’ simple, elegant form nonetheless hearkens back to classical Chinese furniture design. The chair backs and arms are light and delicately curved, and are beautifully grounded by the solid legs and base.
