A very good looking well made and decorative armchair, these come up for sale regularly as the standard chair, I have never seen one before which is a corner chair, especially with entire back rest is one large dragon! You start with the dragons head as the left arm, his left arm makes up the pillar, moving to the middle back rest which is the right of the dragon and finishing with the dragons tail which is the right arm of the chair
The condition is very good for the age, we have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, there will be normal age related patina marks all over
The chairs has two period import stamps or labels from Batchelar &Son LTD, The Depository Croydon, these would have been the company that received the item in from Japan, they were a medium sized company in the mid to late Victorian era. There is one complete stamp to the base that is heavily faded and a half a stamp not faded at all

Condition
Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition
Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
