Beautiful Queen Anne style secretary desk and bookcase by Cresent Manufacturing Company, circa 1970s. Made from cherry with a natural distressed finish. Features an upper bookcase with two shelves and lattice covered glass doors with an arched arcade along the top. The drop front opens two one large drawer and pigeon holes. Base has three graduated dovetailed drawers. The cabinet is supported by cabriole legs. Colonial brass batwing hardware fitted to drawers and desk lid.
Cresent was founded in 1947 by Charles Tomkins, who, when he was unable to procure furniture for his store that met his exacting standards, decided that he would just have to make it himself. Surrounding himself with craftsman from his hometown of Gallatin, Tennessee, he began producing solid cherry and solid maple bedroom furniture and then hit the road.
